Dad was making a cup of tea and called through to Mum in the lounge:
“Where are the teabags?”
Mum’s reply?
“In the coffee jar marked ‘Sugar’, where they always are!”

it took me a while to get this but i’m probably understanding it totally wrong xD
I do admit, that took me a minute. But yeah. Heh. That’s funny. LOL Tea bags in the coffee jar marked sugar… Someone’s got their lions crossed!
Makes sense to me. Maybe the sugar jar is bigger than the tea jar and they drink a lot of tea but don’t take sugar. Maybe the tea jar broke. Maybe the sugar jar was purchased specifically for tea bags because it went with the kitchen decor but didn’t come with a ‘tea’ label. Then again I do keep my tea bags in a cookie jar.
…. the “coffee jar” was a jar that the instant coffee came in originally.
the contents of the “coffee jar” were the teabags.
however, the label on the outside of the jar said “sugar”.
My father, being a logical sort of bloke, would expect to find a jar labelled “sugar” to contain sugar. That mum expected him to remember that the container marked (with a dymo label) “sugar” contained teabags, rather than sugar (or indeed, coffee) was humourous. To my Dad and I, it would have made more sense for the jar to have been relabelled …
Oh! Now it makes sense.
